Practice Philosophy

Located in Portland, Oregon, gynecologist Laila Sillay MD of Women & Teens Gynecology offers private, convenient and readily accessible gynecologic care, office-based procedures, and professional referrals for surgical, obstetric and specialist services. With over 28 years of experience in private practice, Dr. Sillay’s approach is to develop a long-term, responsive and supportive relationship with her patients. She takes the time to talk to you and learn about your concerns. She is experienced, attentive, contemplative, and available.

The practice of medicine today has become overwhelmed by economic concerns that limit the time a physician can spend with patients, especially so in larger practices. Dr. Sillay believes in spending ample time with patients so that she can clearly understand your needs and you can clearly understand her diagnoses and recommendations. She achieves this level of care through a low-volume practice and lengthy appointment times, a structure she is able to maintain by remaining independent of large medical groups.

You can expect comfortable time to consider her questions, share your observations, questions and concerns, and internalize conclusions. A schedule allowing thoughtful attention and contemplation for both patient and gynecologist, in a calm and relaxed setting, will consistently yield superior results and higher satisfaction.

Dr. Sillay believes in a minimally invasive approach to medical care. Current advances in medical treatment and outpatient technologies have made a conservative approach to hospital-based surgery both feasible and preferable. For circumstances that do require surgery, Dr. Sillay will refer to surgeons in the Portland area with the refined skills and currency that can only be maintained in a practice that performs a high volume of surgeries.

After more than twenty years sharing the joys of pregnancy and childbirth with patients, she decided to give up the practice of obstetrics to focus entirely on gynecology. The absence of obstetrical activity in the practice enables a more reliable schedule for appointments and allows Dr. Sillay to always be at her best for her patients. A special interest and experience in the needs of adolescents and teens promotes comfort and confidence in the young woman new to gynecologic care.
